Venue room: Paul O’Regan Hall
Please join us for a special screening of Copper Woman, a stunning visual, oral, and aural celebration of the life and work of Dub poet Afua Cooper, who lives and works in Canada and helped launch the dub movement.
Filmed in Toronto’s Little Jamaica, the film illustrates the aesthetic of dub poetry through readings by the poet. It explores her life story and offers insights into the far-reaching history of the “Black Atlantic” in the Americas.
Copper Woman is directed and produced by German filmmaker and scholar Wilfried Raussert. Dr. Afua Cooper will attend the event and address the audience.
Please note that this event happens after Halifax Central Library’s open hours.
