Creative Writing for Newcomers (virtual) with Anne C. Kelly

Are you a newcomer to Canada with a story you want to share? Do you want to develop and strengthen your creative writing skills? Join Anne C. Kelly for this four-week course to build basic writing skills and explore the principles of creative writing. The course will include writing exercises, sharing with other learners, and a chance to create and edit the story you want to tell.

About the instructor: Anne C. Kelly has taught English-as-an-additional-language for more than 20 years, and currently works as a language assessor in Halifax. She has personal experience in both teaching writing and being a writer. Her novel, Jacques’ Escape, was published by Trap Door books in 2019, after many years of writing, editing and rewriting. She enjoys sharing her story and working closely with Newcomers.

Dates of 4-week workshop: Saturdays, Feb 5 + Feb 12 + Feb 19 + Feb 26, 2022 (9:30am to 11:30am Atlantic)

Nonmember/member price: $49

This low-cost workshop is for Newcomers to Canada (including new and past immigrants, new residents, and international students) and is designed for writers who are learning EAL (English as an additional language). You do not need to share your residency status in order to participate.
