On November 30, 2016, as part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, the Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia (WFNS) announced four new Legacy Memberships. This designation recognizes and celebrates members whose achievements to date—including their published work and other contributions to our writing community—have had an impact on our province’s cultural life and creative economy.
Nova Scotian winters can be unpredictable and messy. Because of that, the WFNS Office has put a plan in place to ensure the safety of staff. On days when the weather is questionable (sidewalks and roads unplowed, ice, heavy snow, extreme temperatures, etc.) your staff may be working from home. On those days, a notice will be posted on social media and our website. If you have an urgent query on those days, please email email@example.com as we won't be in the office to answer the phone.
The WFNS invites you to a 40th anniversary party for the Cultural Federations of Nova Scotia (CFNS). Along with six other provincial arts organizations, WFNS is a founding member of the CFNS collective. Join us for a party with CFNS members and for a couple of special announcements for the WFNS anniversary!
Wednesday, November 30, 2016. 5:00 - 7:00pm. 1113 Marginal Road, Halifax. If you are planning on attending, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Join The Writers' Union of Canada (TWUC) and the Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia (WFNS) for an informal meet & greet information session. Chuck Bowie, the new TWUC-Atlantic regional rep, and Jonathan Meakin, Executive Director of the WFNS, will host a wide-ranging chat featuring updates from TWUC, the WFNS, and other writing organizations present; Canada Council for the Arts support for writers; changes in the publishing industry; updates on Access Copyright; and discussion of any other challenges or opportunities of interest to writers nationally, regionally, and provincially.
We're at Hal-Con Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention from November 4th -6th. Come and visit us at booth J2 on the vendor floor! Please be advised that the office will be closed Friday, November 4th.

The deadline for the 2017 Alistair MacLeod Mentorship Program is October 17, 2016.
The Alistair MacLeod Mentorship Program is designed to support developing writers in Nova Scotia who are committed to their writing and are on the cusp of professional publication. This is not an introductory creative writing course; it is an intensive, hands-on opportunity intended to provide a disciplined and focused period of work during which emerging writers may develop and hone their craft in a supportive environment.
