The Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia is pleased to announce the winners of this year's Nova Writes Competition for Unpublished Manuscripts.

HR (BILL) PERCY ADULT NOVEL PRIZE

WINNER: Brenda MacLennan-Dunphy, Never Speak of this Again

POETRY PRIZE

WINNER: Jana Traff, In The White of Grief 

BUDGE WILSON SHORT STORY PRIZE

WINNER: Amanda Peters, Crows
HONOURABLE MENTION: Adam Fiske, City of Goodbyes

CREATIVE NON-FICTION PRIZE

WINNER: Melissa Friedman, Gastown to Grey 

JOYCE BARKHOUSE WRITING FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULT PRIZE

WINNER: Laureen Van Lierop, Beach Meadow Friends

The winning authors will read from their manuscripts at the Celebration of Emerging Writers on Saturday, June 10th at 2 PM. The reading and prize presentation will take place at the Halifax Central Library's Paul O'Regan Hall. The graduates of the Alistair MacLeod Mentorship Program will also be reading from their work at this event. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating these emerging voices in Nova Scotian writing.
