"Baker's fresh, fun-filled writing brings giggles, chuckles and outright belly laughs to the listener and the reader. The storyline bounces along with zip and zest, packed full of adventure that never ends." A Man Wanders Sometimes. Stoddart Publishing, 1989. "The setting for this impressive first novel is a coastal community in rural Nova Scotia, but its real location is in the tidal flats of the mind, somewhere between illusion and reality, between dream and waking. Kent Baker picks his way through the flotsam with the poise and aplomb usually attained only by more experienced novelists. He's a kind of intellectual clam-digger." "Country Boy" in Ampersand, 1974, Peoria, Illinois. Excerpt from novel Primal Quilt in Glymph, 1974, New York, New York. "Assumptions" in Northeast Review (special experimental fiction issue), 1974, La Crosse, Wisconsin. "A Modern Grammar" in The Bennington Review, 1970, Bennington, Vermont.
