"Frances Jewel Dickson has a head for history. In fact the
former federal civil servant has captured a unique slice of it in
her first book."
- Stephen Clare, Halifax Daily News, August 2007
"The book covers the gamut of human interest stories of ‘southerners’
faced with temperatures dipping to -50 degrees, winds in excess of
100 miles-an-hour and blinding snowfall white-outs; a good read throughout."
- A.W. Aldworth, Air Force Magazine, 2008 winter issue
"The book is very funny in many places but does not ignore
the tragedies and perils of Arctic living. The book will have an
immense appeal to people other than the DEW Liners because it touches
on universal themes."
- Jim Lotz, freelance writer, consultant and independent consultant,
October 2007.
"Your work is outstanding - a true slice of history."
- Mark Shaw, Mark Shaw Books and Literary Consulting, USA, August
2007
