Binnie Brennan

Binnie Brennan’s fiction has been published in a number of literary journals, including The Wascana Review, Existere, and All Rights Reserved. Her novella, Harbour View, won the 2009 Ken Klonsky Novella Contest; Harbour View was published by Quattro Books in the fall of 2009. In 2007 her children’s story A Spider’s Tale was adapted for stage in a collaboration of Symphony Nova Scotia and Dalhousie Theatre, where it received critical and popular acclaim.

Binnie has attended several writing workshops, among them the Humber School for Writers in Toronto and the Maritime Writers’ Workshop in Fredericton, where she has worked with the Canadian writers Alistair MacLeod, MG Vassanji, and Sheree Fitch. Her writing has received support from the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage. Since 1989, Binnie has called Halifax home, where she lives with her husband and two children. She is a violist with Symphony Nova Scotia.
